During World War I, the concept of good luck charms became particularly significant among soldiers and their families. As troops faced the uncertainties and dangers of trench warfare, these charms served as tokens of hope. One of the popular types of good luck charms during this period were "fumsup" charms. The term was derived from the commonly known expression "thumbs up," signifying approval or good fortune. Soldiers would often carry these charms as personal talismans, believing they’d bring them good luck during battles.
This fumsup charm is from 1914 & is made from 935 silver & ebony wood. 935 silver is 93.5% silver (instead of the more common 925 silver). It’s also stronger, brighter, & more tarnish resistant than 925. This charm also has movable arms. It’s in overall great condition and is an amazingly rare piece of history! Don’t miss your chance to own it!
